What does BRCGS mean?

The BRC certification (British Retail Consortium) is one of the most internationally recognized standards for guaranteeing the integrity, legality and reliability of food products and packaging. In particular, the acronym BRCGS stands for “BRC Global Standards”, and refers to a system that covers several areas, including food safety, quality management and sustainability in production chains. Possessing this certification is proof of excellence that companies can boast to demonstrate their commitment to consumers and regulatory bodies.

What is BRC certification?

BRC certification is essential for companies operating in the food sector, as well as for those producing packaging materials. This standardization system helps companies comply with strict quality and safety criteria, reducing the risks of contamination, harm to the consumer and problems relating to the management of production processes. Achieving BRC certification represents a real guarantee of compliance with the best practices in the sector and constitutes a significant competitive advantage, especially in a market that requires transparency and trust.

BRC certified companies demonstrate constant attention to food safety and responsible management of production processes, fundamental elements in a context where consumer trust is crucial. Obtaining this certificate is also a way to respond to international regulations, facilitating access to global markets and improving company reputation.

BRCGS certification: why it matters

BRCGS certification is available to both food companies and food packaging manufacturers. In particular, the latter has the aim of certifying that the packaging supplier respects the highest standards of hygiene and quality of its products, guaranteeing a constant level of safety of its supply chain.

To demonstrate its commitment to satisfying these principals by ensuring continuous improvement actions towards its products, Contital annually undergoes audits to obtain the BRCGS certification which, also in 2025, it has confirmed with the highest level of recognition. This certificate is not only essential to be able to work with large-scale retail trade, but it facilitates the work of many customers who already have an accredited supplier.
